NAPIER v. PALMERSTON. VISITORS AT THE WICKET. A cricket match between the Napier Technical College Old Boys and a team of local colts opened at tho Sportsground this morning under somewhat unfavourable conditions, a cold wind being in evidenco although the wicket and outfield were dry and comparatively fast. Tho home team, on winning the toss, elected to put their opponents in at the wickets, Napier opening with Elliott and Pirie, the partnership contributing 20 before tho former was sent back. Ilardaker filled the vacancy and tho century mark had been passed when Pirie, who had been responsible for 28 of the number, was caught out of his ground. Two wickets then went cheaply, but the total was reading 192 when Hardaker, who had contributed more than half the number, went fifth wicket. At the luncheon adjournment the score was standing at 210 without further loss. Following are the detailed scores - NAPIER.—First Innings. Elliott, c Rose, b McHaffie 16 Pirie, st Scorgie, b Spring 28 Hardaker, c Spring, b Holder ... 113 Rouse, c. and b Spring 8 Graham, run out 6 Symons, not out 10 W.
