OUR INDUSTRIES.
THEIR EXCELLENCIES’ KNOWLEDGE.
“We have attended many agricultural and pastoral shows in many quarters of the Dominion,” the GovernorGeneral (Sir Charles Fergusson) stated when replying to the municipality’s address of welcome yesterday and referring to the extensive tours by Her Excellency and himself in this country. “We are beginning to learn something about the primary industries with which you are chiefly, concerned,” he added. “Even if Her Excellency’s remarks comparing Ayrshire and Shorthorn cattle or Romney- Marsh and Lincoln sheep at times reduce her bearers to a state of speechlessness, it yet serves to show that she, and I hope myself also, are try-ing to take an intelligent interest in these matters.”
