CARNARVON. CLYDESDALE SCHOOL PICNIC. (From Our Own Correspondent.) On March 19 tho Clydesdale School picnic was held under ideal weather conditions. There was a largo attendance of children, their parents and friends. Various games were played and a comprehensive sports programme was gone through during the day. After full justice had been done to afternoon tea, the prizes, given to each child in the school by tile school committee were presented b(y Mrs J. Kelvic. Tho following special prizes were presonted :—Miss Minogue’s for sowing Ethna Hill; Mr G. H. Bennett’s for progross, ltuby Marston; Mrs P. Scott’s for conduct, Ruby Marston; Mrs P. Scott’s for conduct, Eric Clare; Robert Ayers’ was dux of tho schooL. The following were awarded attendance certificates: —Cyril Duncum, Isabel Maxwell, and Jock Maxwell. Three cheers were given for Mr J. Kelvie, chairman of the school committee, tho teacher, Miss A. Minogue, Mrs P. Scott and Mr J. Gibbons for the use of his paddock. MecKonzio 1, Mrs C. W. Duncum 2. HARVEST THANKSGIVING SERVICE ■ On Sunday, March 21, tho annual harvest thanksgiving service was held in tho Carnarvon Presbyterian Church by Rev G. Ireland, of Bulls. Despite tho unfavourable soason there was a very fine display of vegetables, fruit and flowers which had been arranged, in the morning by a will) ing band of workers under tho supervision of Mr O. Aggctt. q ’ho produce was later taken to Bulls whero it was sold along with that from tho Bulls and Parewanui churches. Tho proceeds of tho sale are to bo divided between tho Wellington Presbyterian Orphanage and Cue Home and Maori Missions.
