(From Our Own Correspondent.) On Wednesday last a sharp thunderstorm, accompanied by exceptionally heavy rain, oneo more Interrupted haymaking operations in various parts of the district. A local party of motorists visited Mangahao and describe tho roads as being jn remarkably goo'll order, tho various branches of work under construction most interesting, and tho scenery alone making tho trip well worth while. Miss K. Williams has returned homo after an enjoyablo holiday. Miss Lampard returned from Hawora on Thursday. Wo regret to state that Mr Drake has been obliged to ontor hospital. On account of tho very wot weather on Wednesday vory few attended tho mooting of tho Ladies’ Guild. It is hoped arrangements can soon bo made to hold tho “shop day.” St. Aldan’s Sunday School picnic was hold on Friday, and despite tho disappointing state of the weather there was a fair attendance. Tennis is still attracting many enthusiasts to tho various courts, regardless of tho very hot days wo have been experiencing of lato.
