BACON INDUSTRY. SUGGESTION FOR IMPROVEMENTS. At the conclusion of an address on the bacon industry in Denmark by Mr C. Dahl, Danish Vice-Consul in New Zealand to a meeting yesterday of the Manawatu-Oroua branch of the New Zealand Pig Breeders’ Association discussion took plac'e on the most suitable type of pig for bacon purposes. Mr N. P. Nielsen expressed the view that the Tamworth-Berkshire pig made as good a quality of bacon as any other variety in the world. However, the industry in the Dominion would never progress to the stage it should until the value of co-opera-tion was fully realised, as had been stressed by Mr Dahl in his address. Dominion breeders, again, did not give proper attention to the feeding of pigs; frequently offal was their only food. Mr Dahl was accorded _ a hearty voto of thanks on the motion of Mr W. P. Bickers, the meeting then concluding. WOOL SALES IN LONDON. PRICES REPORTED FIRM. LONDON, Jan. 20. At the wool sales there was good competition for merinos at opening rates, / Other sorts were firm.
