FORCES IN RHINELAND.
REPLY TO GERMANY. NO REDUCTION IN FRENCH TROOPS. Received January 21, 11.55 a.m. . .. PARIS, Jan. 20. According to tho Journal, M. Briand h" s replied to the representations of the German Ambassador, Herr Von Iloescli. with regard to the strength of the Allied forces in .tho Rhineland, stating that there could - at present be no question of reducing the' strength of the French forces in the Rhineland and pointing out that since December Ist last tho French troops had been reduced by about 20,000 men, while the Belgians and British had reduced their forces by only one regiment and ono battalion respectively.—Reuter.
