ANNIVERSARY DAY
TO-MORROW’S ATTRACTIONS. PICNICS AND SPORTS. To-morrow, the anniversary day of the Wellington Province, will be observed in the customary holiday of the turf will doubtless attend in large numbers the first day of the Foxton Racing Club s summer meeting at Foxton, while the Manawatu Motor Club’s motor cycle race meeting at Aslihurst is certain to bo very largely attended. Given continuation of the present fine weather all seaside resorts within a radius of many miles are likely to be the scene of picnic parties, while the ISsplanado and Tin tea will be well patronised Tho motorists’ camping place m the Esplanade is being freely used by touiists and of late several parties haie camped there for a day or so, erecting their tents on the grass area and parking their motprs akmgside by night. Tho facilities afforded are rapidly becoming known. ... Anniversary Day is essentially picnic day, and included in fixtures tor to-morrow are the wood and coal merchants’ picnic at h oxton, the Danish picnic on the other side o Eitzlierbert bridge, and the Metliodist picnic at Ashhfirst Domain. Bowling tournaments will be conducted at the Palmerston North and. Manawatu Clubs and in tho cricket arena Manawatu and Wanganui will contest a junior match at the coastal city, Manawatu seniors will £>my southern Hawke’s Bay at Dannevirke, and Wellington and Palmerston North Railway Clubs will try conclusions at Palmerston North.
