WEST HAM GUARDIANS. ‘ COSTLY POOR RELIEF. LONDON, Jan. 7. The West Ham Board of Guardians is again bankrupt. Its deficit in December was £232,675, and now it is seeking a £350,000 loan from tho Ministry of Health, which already has lent it £1,750,000. The board at present is spending £50,000 a week and has continued the maximum scale of relief of 59s despite the Ministry’s insistence that it should be reduced to 555. The board is planning a bakery that will cost £IO,OOO, as well as a children’s homo that will cost £4OO a week.
