RESCUE FROM DROWNING.
• ; FIJIAN’S BRAVERY. GOVERNOR PRESENTS MEDAL. SUVA, Dec. 15. In the presence of the members of the Executive Council on Friday last, the Governor presented to a Solomon “boy” named Peter Deve the bronze medal of the Royal Humane Society, as some recognition of his" gallantry in saving a Swedish boatswain of ;a visiting steamer, who fell oil: the King’s Wharf on April 22 last.' This was the third instance where Peter had saved life, and he was so modest that this also would have escaped notice had not Mr W. McCreadie drawn His' Excellency’s attention to the ’gallantry of this old. man, who has acted as watchman £t; the. wharf , for. years. ;
