CHANG’S FORCES ACTIVE. EXECUTION OF KUO UNCONFIRMED. Received December 28, 9.25 a.m. TOKIO, Dec. 26. Official advices from Mukden state that the Commander of the Japanese forces has withdrawn the order prohibiting Chinese troops’ presence within the six mile zone as it is considered that the situation, admits of such action. The Korean, garrison contingent has been also withdrawn from Prezearend and the remaining reinforcements sent from Kurume will be shortly withdrawn. The destroyer Susuki has been ordered to Chingwangtao for the protection of nationals as Li-Ching-Lin’s defeated troops are retreating thither. Chang-Tso-Lin’s forces have not yet entered Mukden, but it is expected that they will demand to re-enter and resume control. Japan will only accede if there is no danger of further fighting. The Foreign Office has no official advices in connection with the execution of Kuo-sung-lin and his wife. The Japanese Consul was instructed to ask for mercy on their behalf. Chang agreed to intervene, but apparently his messenger arrived too late. Many of Kuo’s troops have deserted to Chang.—Router.

KUO’S TROOPS’ DEBACLE

TIENTSIN CITY QUIET.

Received December 28, 9.25 a.m. PEKIN, Dec. 27. It is reported that Kuo-sung-lin’s debacle was most complete, out that the casualties were not heavy. Lin Chan Min, the students’ a former Minister for Justice, and Kuo Sung Lin’s chief adviser, was killed by a stray bullet. Tientsin reports that tho entire Chihli army, fully equipped, including heavy guns, passed through the city during the morning of December 24. No attempts wore mado to force admission, though Italians guarding the electric works returned fire from the soldiers, killing two of the victorious troops, who are continuing the pursuit westward.

Tho city is now quiet. The guards have been withdrawn and the trains have resumed running.—Reuter.
