CONSERVATIVE MINISTERS.
TO RECEIVE PEERAGES. CIRCUMSTANTIAL REPORT. LONDON. Dec. 10. A circumstantial report is current that the Home Secretary (Sir William Joynson-Hicks) and the president of the Board of Trade (Sir Philip Cunliffo Lister) any about to receive peerages, which traditionally involves tho relinquishment of their offices. Sir William Joynson-Hicks, whom the Manchester Guardian in a leading article dubbed the “Minister for Class War,” has been subjected to the most bitter criticism for his impetuous speeches following tho arrest of Communists, and also during their trial. Paragraphists have stated that his actions have seriously embarrassed tho Cabinet, while partisans have charged Sir William Joynson-Hicks with the much-criticised withdrawal of the Fascisti prosecutions last month. For some time ho has been suffering from overstrain.
