MILSON SUBURB.

DEVELOPAIENT OF TOWN,

Air H. Vile, the owner of a block of land on the north-western side of Boundary road, and which promises to become a suburb of Palmerston North, waited on the Kairanga County- Council at its meeting to-day, with a request that the area bo designated Alilson, or, as it developed, Allison’s Suburb.

In explaining the future development of that locality, Air Vile stated that he had already disposed of some 37 acres to the Railway Department, which purposes erecting workers’ houses tiiereon, tenders for tho erection of ton dwellings having already been called. The scheme had been under review for some four or five years, but had been held up pending the development of tho railway deviation. A slight alteration in the original plan had been necessitated, and a road which had been allowed for had now been deleted. The principal thoroughfare was Alilson’s line, while tho adjoining block had been originally the property of the late Air Robert Alilson, and he was of tho opinion that the name would be fitting. He asked that the council signify its approval and advise the Minister for Railways of such with a view to having the name accepted. Cr. Anderson, in moving that the council approve of the name, saiu that it was particularly suitable, as Mr Alilson had been one of the earliest residents of the district and one who had been always ready to support the public hospital. The proposal found favour, and the necessary action will be taken by the council.
