EXCITING BEAR HUNT.
LASSOO AND AN AXE,
Hunting bear with a rifle or even a shotgun is not an unusual sport. It lay, for Mr Rufus Watts, however, to invent a new method of toying with Bruin in his own liaunts. It was in Masset Inlet that the exhibition was given. A bear was seen swimming in thp inlet.
Mi - Watts, who was fishing, approached from the water and lassooed the bear with a rope lie had in the boat. Bruin set out for shore towing the boat and net and it became evident to the captor that unless more strenuous efforts were used the big brown fellow would escape. Just as Bruin struggled out of the water on to the beach, Mr Watts brought an axe down on his head and bowled him over.
