PERSONAL.
An expression of sympathy was voiced with Mr P. J. Small, at today’s meeting of the Manawatu-Oroua Power Board, in tho loss he had recently sustained ljy tho death of liis sister following a long and severe illness.
The death occurred at the Convent on Saturday night of Sister Mary Paschal, formerly Miss C. Hayes. Tho deceased lady, who was aged 40 years, had ta.ught in various Convent schools throughout New Zealand und was extremely popular with the children. For a number of years sho was in charge of the orphanage at Upper Hutt, and following a severe illness 12 months ngo came to Palmerston North to recuperate. Sister Paschal retired as usual on Friday night, but was taken ill next day at mid-day, death ensuing shortly before 10 p.m. Prior to tho funeral this morning, Solemn Requiem Mass (Gregory) was celebrated by Rev. Father Doolaghty, Dr. Kennedy and students from Highden singing the incidental music. Among those present were Fathers Cahill, Chapman, McCarthy and Lynch. Mr W. Devine was master of ceremonies.
