NARROW ESCAPE.
SHUNTER’S PREDICAMENT. NEARLY RUN OVER BY TRUCKS. Per Press Association. WHANGAREI, Nov. 9. A hairbreadth escape from grave consequences occurred at the Whangarei railway yards when Shunter McLeod, having signalled a line of trucks to advance, found himself unable to move from the track, having his foot caught so firmly in . the points that he was unable to free himself. Another employee, Bruce, taking a quick-witted grasp of the perilous situation, leaped on the truck and applied the Westinghouse brake just in time, bringing them to a standstill as the imprisoned man grasped the buffer of the foremost truck.
