ART CRITIC’S PURCHASES
NEW YORK, Oct. 25. Captain Falcke, an art critic, who has arrived in New York, is inviting experts to examine his J ‘masterpieces discovered in Australia.” “Falcke’s ‘Good Samaritan, which he believed to be a genuine Rembrandt, is a copy,” said Sir Joseph Duveen, member of a London firm of art dealers, to-day. “He called foimy opinion,” said Sir Joseph, and 1 told him that tho original is in the Wallace collection in London. His copy is by a follower of Rembrandt at tho time.” _ ... The San Francisco Customs allowed the paintings in duty free, as originals, after a three hours’ inspection.”
