TOKOMARU.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) On Friday evening that function appertaining to the school committee funds was successfully carried out, the sum of £5 18s being received at the door, which, after expenses had been deducted, left a fair margin of profit. In the euchre the first prize was cut for by two ladies, Mrs Milne and Miss Cruickslianks, the latter being the successful competitor. The prize was a very pretty salad set of English china. Seven ladies cut for the consolation prize, Mesdames Todd, J. R. Kelly, J. Anderson, Jameson, Atkinson, and the Misses Milne and D. Waghorn. Mrs Atkinson proved to he the winner. The men’s first prize, a pocket wallet, was won by Dir L. Dnlziell, of Makorua, who succeeded in winning the nine games. The consolation prize was cut for by Messrs Guy, Goadson and R. Carter, the latter gaining the. prize. Visitors were present from Makerua and Foxton, and the increasing attendance at these functions offers the 00/miitlee every encouragement to continue. The music for the dan<;p was supplied by Mr H. Parr, and the coim/iittcc, with the usual willing helpers among the ladies, attended to the supi/er.
