MOTOR VEHICLES.
BRITISH INDUSTRY NEEDS PROTECTION. LONDON, Nov. 6. Tlie British motor manufacturers have applied for a safeguarding duty on foreign motor vehicles and parts thereof. They point out that 25 per cent of the new commercial vehicles are imported, while tlie American and Canadian exports to Australia alone far exceeds tlie total exports from Britain all over tlie world. The McKenna duties apply only to tlie private motor car industry.—A. and N.Z. cable.
