BUNNYTHORPE

(From Our Own Correspondent) The opening of tho Bunnytliorpe tennis courts* took place in ideal weather, there being a large number of players present, including visitors from outside clubs. Mr J. He hoped that this season they would obtain still better records. The speaker also referred to the sporting and social side of tennis, which would help to cement the friendship of all who visited the courts. Before declaring the courts open lie thanked the club for its kind invitation to Mrs Linklater and himself to be present to partake of an afternoon’s tennis. The courts were then declared open. Mr J. 0. AVebber (president), on behalf of the club, expressed thanks to Mr Linklater for coming along to open the courts, considering that lie was a very busy man. Cheers wore given for Mr and Mrs Linklater, and a tournament was played, resulting in Miss G. Ranson and Mr G. Dutliie winning the trophies presented. Election day was an interesting one in our midst and the large number of cars conveying voters to the Oroua and Maiiawatu booths showed that the respective candidates were keen on getting every voter to the booths. The result of the, election appears to liavo given general satisfaction. Mr Liliklater lias done much for the benefit of this part of the Oroua and Maiiawatu electorate.
