DEATH IN COCONUT TREE.
EXTRAORDINARY INCIDENT. HOW A FIJIAN MAN DIED. SUVA, Oct. 27. A Fijian named Davui lived in Lamitown, near Suva. Ho was 4ii years of age and strong and apparently healthy. On Saturday last ho went over to the small island known as Mosquito Island. Here ho climbed a tall and rather straight coconut tree. He got into the top and there stayed in spite of the calls of a companion. ilis remarkablo attitude aroused fears that all was not well, and the police wero notified. When Inspector Lucchinelli reached the island Davui remained as before in the crown of the tree, apparently quite comfortable. A man was sent up the tree with a rope, and then ho found that Davui was dead. It was suggested that the strain of the severe climb had found a weakness in his heart, and ho had just managed to reach his goal whon death came suddenly. He was tenderly loworod and the body was taken to tbo morgue for medical examination.
