BUTTER AND CHEESE.

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —When reading your excellent report on the butter and cheese market, tho following clause commanded thought:—“Holding consignments off the market with the expectation of realising better prices interrupted the business connection and caused loss of interest in tho brands so withheld.” This statement is true and its verity will continue while there are many of our “brands” on the British market, but, and the but is vital, there is a remedy which will soon bo operative. It was to combat just such difficulties that the “Reform” Government considered the representations of progressive farmers and provided Boards of Control. The Dairy Control Board has arranged one brand for New Zealand, tho “Pern Leaf,” just as there is only one for Danish butter, and the Fern Leaf will be always on tho market, excepting when suicidal strikes work destruction to our commerce and injure tho prospects of every man, woman and child in New Zealand.—l am, etc., ANDREW BUCHANAN. November 4th, 1925.
