RACES AT FLEMINGTON. LINLITHGOW STAKES AVON BY NTGHT PATROL. (Bv Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, Nov. 5. The weather for the Flemington races was fine and bright to-day. There was a large attendance, great interest centring in xhe Linlithgow Stakes. Raco records were established in the first threo events. In the Hurdles, Investigate was prominent throughout, and won easily. He was ridden by Inkson, who won the Cup Steeples on Agricola. Cyden, on the outside rail, was always at the front in the Mimosa Stakes, and won easily, giving his trainer, Scobie, his fifth win of the races. Night Patrol led over the last seven furlongs in the Linlithgow Stakes, which was a good race. The Hawk was never dangerous, and finished fifth. Night Patrol also won this raco last year. The fractional times were, first two furlongs 23Jsecs., next two 24Jsecs., last four 475 secs. Solidify, which was fifth in the early stages in the Veteran Stakes, finished best and won narrowly. Ho is trained by the ex-New Zealander, 1). Lewis. Ethelton took charge at the mile in the Oaks and was first into the straight from Redshank, and after an interesting race Redshank won by a neck from Ethelton,. with Bonn Reine two lengths away. Tressadell was fourth. The winner is owned by C. M. Pearce, who was formerly racing under the assumed name of Melrose. There was an exciting finish in tho Carnival Handicap, the imported Preston Grange winning in the last stride. Tho first two furlongs took 26)sccs., the next four 50*secs., and tho last four 49)secs.
