DEALING IN SHARES
NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGE. RECORD DAY FOR YEAR, Received November 5, 12.45 p.m. NEW YORK, Nov. 4. The Stock Exchange sales totalled 2,904,500 shares, a new high record for the year and exceeded only once before in the history of the market. Steel issues featured in the frenzied buying, and Unistates Steel, a pivotal issue, attained a new high level for tiie year of 1341, comparing with the record ot 136§ in 1917, when the warring nations wore clamouring for steel. . The reckless buying of tho public is encouraged by the steel companies by the announcement that business prospects were never to so encouraging. Many other industrial stocks have achieved big gains. I lie brokers seemed to bo watching tho courso of every stock, ready to pick out the favourite and ride on tho crest of the “bull” movement.—A. and N.Z. ctvble.
