Adverse Vote Recorded Increased Support for State Control Ohinemuri Carries Restoration The usual referendum on the licensing question was taken, yesterday, when the three issues of Continuance, State Control and Prohibition were placed before the electors. As no issue received an absolute majority, the present system of licenses will continue. The latest available figures are as follow : CONTINUANCE 261,795 STATE CONTROL ... . 48,801 PROHIBITION 277,981 In the no-license districts a vote was also taken on the question of restoration or non-restoration of licenses, with" the result that Ohinemuri secured the necessary three-fifths majority for restoration. The other no-lieense districts will continue as formerly without licensed houses.

RESULTS OF PREVIOUS POLLS. Iho result of the special licensing poll commuted on April 10. 1919 was a.s fob 253 827 (Jontlnuancc < 264,189; ' prohibition, Tho poll in December of that year saw the following votes cast: Continuance, 241,251; State purchase and control, 32.261prohibition, 270,250. At the general election on December 7, 1922, the licensing issue resulted as fol! lows: —Continuance, 282,669; Stale purchase and control, 35,727; prohibition, 300.791.
