STATE ADVANCES.
BUSINESS BEING EXPEDITED. Hon. W. Nosworthy, Minister of Finance, yesterday informed a Christchurch reporter • this week that inthe last two months the State Advances Department had dealt with 1013 applications for loans, payments of sums aggregating £894,020 having been authorised. Applications now on hand numbered 6241 amounting to £8.529,875. Now that the success of tho local loan was assured the department was pushing on with tho work, and valuations and reports had been called for in respect of . applications received up to and during, the month of February of this year. With-, the loan money now being raised, and tho repayments of principal continually coming into the office, ho hoped that it would very shortly bo possiblo to clear up all outstanding applications., . ,
