TO ADVERTISE RELIGION.

SECULAR PAPERS BEST. Supporting a resolution at the Presbyterian Church Assembly at Regent Square, London, that a newspaper campaign be inaugurated to bring religion home to people, Rev. W. Gibson Smith, of Thropton, Northumberland, said:“The secular papers aro the only publications many people read, and thousands actually take their religion from the papers. The secular press is working along spiritual and moral lines in a much greater measure than it did 20 3-oars ago, and the editors deserve great credit for this improvement. “The Church should take space in the newspapers to put before the people Christian principles as applied to everyday life, and endeavour to try to uplift the people.”
