TOKOMARU/ (From Our Own Correspondent.) An afternoon “cheerio” will be held on Saturday, November 7th, in the local hall in aid of the stall fund for the Church bazaar, songs and dance's and musical items, also competitions, will he the order of tho afternoon. Tea will also lie served, and the modest sum of fid will he charged for entrance.

HO RTICULTUR AL SOCIETY. (From Our Own Correspondent.) At a committee meeting of the Foxton Horticultural Society Dir Christie (president) was in the chair. Tho Foxton Silver Band wrote intimating that its members would be pleased to play on the evening of the show, November 20. Rev. AY. H. Walton wrote.tendering his resignation as a member of tlie. committee. He is a life-member of tho society and in view of his invaluable work as a member of the executive it was decided to ask him to reconsider his decision. Stewards were appointed as under: Rose section and novice class, Mesdames Procter and Hoasman; sweet peas, Mesdames Healey and Downes; cut blooms, Airs T. East and Aliss AYanklyn; decorated, Aliss Ncylon; fruit and vegetables, Messrs Nyo and AYhibley; fancy work, Aliss Patterson; cooking, Airs Trueman; bird’s eggs, Air S. H. Poole. It was decided to procure a watch for a competition (in charge of Air Christie). Miss Gower lias consented to take charge of the ice-cream and soft-drink stall. Messrs J. Ross and AVliihley were appointed door-keepers. The member for the district is to be invited to open the show and the Afayor (Air AL. E. Perreau) is also to bo asked to attend.
