PROHIBITION RALLY.

Rev. E. P. Blamires briefly addressed a gathering in Rungitikei street this afternoon in connection with the prohibition campaign. Fie dealt extensively witli prohibition in America and said that, although ho did not claim that it was a complete success, it was a 90 per cent, success and was the means of reducing crime to a great extent. In no country in the world except America did so many working men own their own cars, which was largely a result of prohibition. Touching upon New Zealand, the speaker dealt with the no-license towns and mentioned that, in Musterton in the old days, a dozen drunks could lie seen any night. Now, il there was drinking, it was done quietly. He had been told by a resident of that town that there was less unemployment there than in Palmerston North. A number of questions were answered by the speaker at the conclusion of his address.
