For the 76 European constituencies there are 190 candidates compared with 197 in 1922. ' Reform has 68 candidates, Labour 56, and the Nationalists 49. The following table shows the number of candidates for each party who contested seats in 1922 and the number successful and also gives the number standing in each interest
In addition there are four Maori constituencies, for which there are eight candidates. In the last Parliament three of these seats wert held by Reformers and the other (Eastern Maori) by Hon. A. T. Ngata, who is now standing as a Nationalist.
