The usual social evening was held on Friday last, when quite a nice party gathered and spent a. very pleasant time. Mr Crowe rendered vocal items, and dancing was thoroughly enjoyed. The ladies dispensed supper in their customary manner. Miss McKenzie supplied excellent music, while Mr S. Pearce ably filled the duties of M.C. Tho children’s, carnival is to be held early in August, and they are already eagerly counting tho days. Mr Ben Roberts, Labour candidate, held a meeting at tho school on tho evening of tho 9th inst. Mr I<\ Legg was elected chairman, and introduced the speaker. A fair number attended and gave iho speaker an attentive hearing. Mrs T. Grammar is spending a holiday at Bulls. Miss Brooke-Taylor is in Hastings. Miss Dewis has returned from her holiday. ' Messrs Bradley, of Maharahara, arc staving with Mr Coyne. Tho monthly evening service of the Anglican Church will be held on Tuesday, 21st inst.
