NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION. T 1 v monthly meeting of /the council of the New Zealand Golf Association was hold on Monday, when there were present: Messrs It. 0. Kirk (chairman), A. 1). ,S. Duncan, IV. E. A. Gill and Captain A. E. Conway. A statement of finances showed a credit balance at the National Bank of £lO4 8s 4d and at the Savings Bank of £214 4s 3d. ] Correspondence was read with reference to arangements made hv the secretary for coaching by local professionals in lieu of Dean, who resigned his appointment. James Watt is at present at Tanranga and will possibly go to other clubs in that district. C. IV. Macrae is now in North Canterbury and according to his reports is doing exceedingly well there. It. C. Blitters has already coached at Itaetihi and commences coaching at Marton.
Several clubs had written regarding ridings on various matters and the replies given were approved of by the council.
The Reefton Golf Club, Reefton, which had been duly proposed and seconded, was elected a member of the association. Further enquiries regarding affiliation liavo been received from Ruapehu Golf Club (Ohakune) and Bulls Golf Club (Bulls). Final. programmes for the annual tournament were before the council and will be circulated to clubs with the report of the meeting. At the recommendation of the council, the Christchurch Golf Club has decided to close its course for play from 2 p.m. on tho Thursday before 1 lie championship commences in order to give it a final preparation. It was reported that entries for the teams competition were coming in well and there was no doubt there would lie a very good competition tor the trophies.
