MEETING OF.COMMITTEE. ; (From Our Own Correspondent.) ■Mr R. 'L. Tippler presided at the luonthly meeting of tiie School Committee. . The Education' Board wrote stating that it. was in sympathy with the committee’s .resolution to support Domin-ion-made grainuphones. Replying to the request for shelter sheds at Kara nndLEingstou roads, the board stated that the allowance did not provide for shelter sheds away from schools, and asking if arrangements could be made as elsewhere for parents to provide the shelter necessary. With reference to the disposal of rubbish the board stated that the. architect had been authorised to provide an incinerator and it would be constructed when arrangements could be made.
In the matter of electric light and a water heater lor the school, the board stated that, it was prepared to_ find one-third of the cost of installation if the committee undertook all the maintenance and rental costs of light , and heat. The board asked how the committee proposed to finance the 1 matter,'—The committee is to reply that it proposes to pay the sums out of contributions.
The board also wrote relative to the alterations to be made to the sehoolresidenee and stating that, when finished, the residence would be quite satisfactory. Messrs Brown and Burns were appointed a visiting committee for the month. .Mr T. C. Thwaites donated to the school a first-aid chart, for which he was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The committee resolved to have the school connected up with the borough water supply.
