TERRACE END SCHOOL
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the Terrace End School Committee was held last night, Air G. H. Stiles presiding. Others present were: Messrs W. , Ilebden, A. E. Allen, 11. B. Scott, W. Cnmeron, J. H. Coker and T. Hastings (secretary). CORRESPONDENCE. From a local concert party offering to stage a concert in aid of the school funds on a fifty-fifty basis. —It was decided that the proposition could not be entertained, although the offer was appreciated. From the Wanganui Education Bourd, slating that it was proposed to appoint Miss M. D. Matheson to the position of additional assistant teacher, and asking the committee’s views on the proposal.—Received, same being agreeable to the committee. From the Palmerston North Drapers’ and Clothiers’ Association, enclosing donation of £1 Is towards the school funds. —Received. From the Manawatu Football Association asking for permission for the Terrace Find schcoolboys’ soccer team to practise on the school grounds on two days per week after school hours under the tuition of Messrs J. S. Jenkinson and .T. Davidson. —Received, permission to use the grounds on Friday nights after school being granted. GENERAL. Mr Hastings outlined ihe .vrungeinculs already made in connection with the school ball, and it was decided to ask Mr J. A. Nash, AI.P., to open the function. It was; mentioned that a number of donations had been received towards the hall funds, the committee thoroughly appreciating the gifts. It was resolved to meet at the school on Monday night for the purpose of finalising arrangements. Messrs Ataepherson and (’ameron were appointed a visiting committee for the month.
Accounts amounting (o £8 6s 3d were passed for payment.
