ECLIPSE OF THE SUN.
VISIBLE IN THE DOMINION. GREATEST PHASE NEAR SUNRISE. On Tuesday, July 21, there will occur an eclipse of the sun, of which some phase will be visible irom all places in New Zealand. From the Three Kings Islands, Cape Maria Van llieinan, Parenga and places situated within a few inilps of these, the eclipse will be annular, the sun appearing for a few minutes as a narrow ring. From other stations in New Zealand the eclipse will be a partial one of varying magnitude, the fraction of the sun’s diameter covered by the moon decreasing as one proceeds southward. As seen from New Zealand the sun will rise partially eclipsed and the greatest phase will occur shortly after sunrise.
