CONTROLLING BODY MEET. USE OF NORTH STREET PARK. Tho ordinary meeting of the committee of the Manawatu Football Association was held last evening, there being present: Messrs J. C. Yoxing (chairman), H. Simmonds, C. Taylor, J. S. Jenkinson, H. Johnson and J. R. Blackwell (hon. secretary). CORRESPONDENCE.

From the New Zealand Association advising that, in connection with the Chatham Cup rules, it had been decided to delete the following:—That for the 1925 season tho total ground charges for Chatham Cup preliminaries shall not exceed 25 per cent, of the gross gate. It had been further resolved to effect the following alterations for the 1925 season only : —That in matches prior to district matches 75 per cent, should go to the affiliated controlling association and 25 per cent be divided among competing clubs; that in district matches 40 per cent, should go to each controlling affiliated association and 10 per cent, be divided among competing clubs. —Received. From the R.S.A. Club advising that it could not take up a £lO debenture at present in connection with the pavilion scheme, but would do so later if the financial position of the club warranted it.—Received. From tho Auckland Association asking if Manawatu was extremely eager to go to Auckland to play a Brown Shield match this year, for it was desired that Manawatu on this occasion forego its rights in favour of Otago. The New Zealand Council would agree to any such arrangement. On their return Otago might, if desired, play a match at' Palmerston North. It was understood, of course, that Auckland would have to pass the Wellington match before it would be certain that the fixture at Auckland would be a Brown Shield game. —It was decided to merely “receive” the letter pending the result of the Auckland-Wcl-lington match. From the Johnsonville Club advising that its senior B division team desired to play a friendly game at Palmerston North against one of the Manawatu teams at the end of the present playing season. —The letter is to be circulated among local clubs. From St. Andrew’s Club advising that it hoped to take up a £lO debenture, but could guarantee £s.—Received,

NEW GRANDSTAND. Matters affecting the construction of the new grandstand at North Street Park were discussed and advices from the Borough Council as to the term of lease and the financial arrangements were considered. It was mentioned by the chairman that ground work preparatory to the commencement of building had already been started.

He further commented that he often heard complaints about High School boys and other sports devotees using North Street Park, but, lie said, they had to remember that other bodies had that right. “The Manawatu Football Association has not the freehold of the ground,” he said, adding, however. that they desired, now that the association was spending so much

money on a grandstand, to have the right to consider applications from other bodies to use the ground. It was not desired that the ground be let to other people regularly, but only for special and unusual requirements. “For instance,” said Mr Young, “we don’t want hockey played on the ground every Wednesday afternoon; nor do we want baseball to be played on it regularly if- that game should become popular here in five years’ time.” He added that the points mentioned had been referred to the council and it had been suggested that the chairman of the reserves committee be the'arbitrator in the event of any dispute. FIXTURES ARRANGED. The following fixtures were arranged for next Saturday R.S.A. v. Athletic, No. 2 ground, 3 p.m. (Chatham Cup and. competition match) ; Foxton v. Flock House at Flock House; St. Andrew’s B v. Rangers, at North Street, 3 p.m., No. 1 ground ; St. Andrew’s A a bye. Saturday, July 25.—R.5.A. v. Flock House, at Flock House ; Foxton v. Kcmpson was nominated to tho vacancy on the committee caused through the resignation of Mr J. B. Cooper. It was decided to request St. Andrew’s Club to grade its players A and B respectively.
