OVER A BANK.
MEN PRECIPITATED INTO. STREAM. •a NARROW-ESCAPE OF WORKMAN. Per PrcßS Association. THAMES, July 14. Just after passing a bend in the Kauri Timber Coys log railway on Sunday afternoon a box truck containing a number of workmen and sightseers was jolted oil the rails and crash e-:l down, a twenty foot bank into a •swiftly running stream. A workman, A. J. McDuff, aged 40, was pinned under the truck and was in danger of drowning when a companion came to his assistance and held his liead above the water until lie could be extricated from his painful position. An examination in hospital disclosed a cut on the head and injuries to the lower pare of the back, the full extent of which lias not yet heen ascertained.
All the ether members of the paity were more or less severely bruised.
