RIFLE SHOOTING.

ON THE MINIATURE RANGE. Tlie association’s competitions were advanced another stage last week, close contests eventuating in the majority of the matches. In the Cliffe and Remington series Awahuri beat Bulls by four points and Oroua Downs beat Linton by one point, returning the good total of 1082. In the Tisdall Cup Oroua Downs beat Linton by five points, while Awahuri had an overwhelming victory over Bulls Club, which was apparently trying out younger shots.

Awahuri’s total of 1067 in the B team just falls short of R.S.A.’s record by two points, the latter’s score being 1069. The competitions are at an interesting stage, and it is hard to forecast the winners in either grade. There is only one more set of matches to he fired to complete the first round in these competitions and they are to be shot this week. Messrs W. Randell and R. A. Jones were the official scrutineers.
