CHESS CLUB.
WEEKLY MEETING
The weekly meeting' of the Palmerston North Chess Club was held last night, when play in the winter tournament was advanced a further stage. In the senior section T. A. Morine won from A. G. Richards and 11. R. Thorburn drew with G. R. Morine. In the junior section Fleck beat A. Hayward, and was in turn beaten by W. Nasmith. In a further match in this section G. D. Stuart lost to O. Thorburn. A ladder match between Christensen and Gatley for rung 13 resulted in a win for the lirst-namcd. The secretary, Mr A. G. Richards, reported that the membership of the club was increasing steadily, a fact that was due in no sjpall measure to the more comfortable and commodious accommodation that the club now had. New members elected at the meeting were Messrs G, Faull and A. Hayward.
