THE CHILDREN’S APPEAL.
There i- no greater joy on earth than that of.' adding to the happiness of children,' of winching the glow of health illumine their cheery faces and of hearing the music of their ringing voices. This sublime happiness is within (lie reach of everyone, for in our town is always a family of yo.ung ones who need our help, who need nursing back to health and whose voices for the time being arc sad and quiet. A visit lo the children's ward of our public Hospital fills one with it •'Ciisi 1 of the wonderful work being done for these little ones. The eternal cheerfulness of childhood is manifest; hut the local authorities are unable to give all those litt to luxuries, attentions and dainties that 'every lover of children desires should lie available. Here is the opportunity for all those who desire to experience the blessedness of service. On Saturday a special effort is being made to raise a substantial sum to provide for our suffering little ones' just wluit every parent, every big brother or every benevolent, uncle lovingly provides for bis own sick friend. The appeal is to everyone to father one little sufferer in the hospital by making such a contribution as will provide dainties and by bringing the flush of jov to the cheeks of the patient, help to restore health and all the joys of out-of-doors to a child. We know that the appeal will not fall upon unresponsive ears. Have you calculated the pure joy that half a sovereign, tint a shilling, even, can bring to the heart of a. child? Have you experienced the joyous tightening of the heart as a little one smiles "thunk you?” That joy can be yours —a. joy not once expressed, but a continuous round of health-giving blessedness—if you help to make Hospital Saturday a measure of your thankfulness for health and of your love for the little ones.
