At presen the supply of trucks was under the control of the traffic districts, and although one district might have a surplus of trucks, it was always loath to give up any number to another district. As to the expenditure on the railway systems he justified what had been done at Auckland, and said that so far as Canterbury was concerned lie was now waiting on the report on the electrification of the Canterbury system from Messrs Mertz and Mclennan. These gentlemen had been as.ced to supply the Canterbury report first of all the four reports which they were preparing. As it would only be a matter of a few weeks before that report would come to hand, he considered it would be better to wait, so that what they did do would fit in with the recommendations ot Messrs Mertz and Mel/ennan.
