ANNUAL MEETING CLYDESDALE SOCIETY. The annual meeting of the Clydesdale Horse Society of Now Zealand was held at the Showgrounds this week, Mr J. YY 7 . Harding (YVaipukurau) presiding. ANNUAL REPORT. Tho annual report stated that, during the year, good progress had been made, the market in Britain having recorded a substantial recovery. Sixty new members bail been elected and the total was now <l5O. Since the last annual meeting there had been a steady interchange of transfers and breeders generally wero realising the necessity for strict supervision of transfers in order that progeny might remain eligible. The stud book contained tho pedigrees of 328 registered mares and 175 registered stallions; in addition there were some unnumbered mares and stallions. Seven stallions and live mares had been imported, indicating confidence among breeder. l !. It was hoped that the importers would be rewarded for their enterprise which went to improve the breed. Stallions to tho number of 17 had been exported to Australia and 16 stallions and 15 mares submitted for veterinary examination. All bad passed but one -stallion. The YY’right, Stephenson Cup was won at the Otago stallion show by Thomson’s, Ltd., “Scotland’s Victor” and the Union Steam Ship Co.’s Clip at- the Royal Show by A. E. Cook’s “Yott Merrymaid.” The British Clydesdale Society’s medals at the Royal Show were secured by the same owner’s “Brillinntine” and “Yett Merrymaid” respectively. At the Otago Summer Show Thomson’s, Ltd., won with “Scotland’s Victor.” It was to be regretted that the stallion bill had not yet been placed on the Statute Book. Tho report was adopted as was also the balance-sheet. ELECTION OF OFFICERS.

The following officers were elected :—President ; Mr T. D. Wylie (Sefton, Canterbury); vice-presidents, Messrs 1). G. YY’right (YY’indennere), T. Logan (Otuma), W. G. Park (Te Awamutu), und R. D. Knight (Longburn); treasurer, Mr A. Hunter (Jlawera); members to the council, Messrs R. I"). Knight, Jus. Knight (Feilding), E. A. YVasher (Oakaiawa), Hanish YY’ilson (Bulls), K. Kennedy (Drummond), R. YV. Lockheed (Christchurch), J. Ewan (Invercargill) and D. G. YY’right. GENERAL. On the motion of the chairman, who stressed the urgency of tho position, it was decided to ask the Government to push on with the stallions bill with all possible despatch.

There being no further business the meeting then concluded.
