SALE OF FRIESIAN CATTLE. PURCHASES MADE FOR ARGENTINE AND AUSTRALIA. A dispersal sale of Friesian cattle on account of Mr R. It. Pearson, liongotea, was held at the farm on Thursday, 18th in'st. There was a fair attendance, but bidding was by no means spirited. A proportion of the cows were empty and these wore withdrawn from the catalogue. The fact also that a considerable number of the females offered were coming in late in the season had an adverse effect. The top price of 60 guineas wus paid for a five-year-old show cow purchased for export to the Argentine. The purchasers of this cow, Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., also purchased a six-year old cow for export to the tame quarter for 45 guineas. Messrs 11. R. Green, of Kairanga. and O. A. Cadwallader, Wairarapa, were the largest buyers. The top price for heifers was 45 guineas. This was for a particularly good quality heifer purchased for export to New South Wales. The opinion was expressed by competent judges present that the animals purchased for export would do full credit to the Dominion in the countries to which they are to be shipped The sale was conducted by Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., and Messis Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., wno report the principal prices as follows: Cow, Glen Iris Heather Segis, 9 years H.
