Mr E. D. Wycherley (chairman of tho social committee) reported that two successful socials were held during the past month. Tho billiard room was already showing greater returns since tho committee placed one of its members on duty each night. Tho table was being renovated and, when it was in good order, would show a further increase in returns. As regarded a visit from members of tho Wanganui Y.M.C.A., arrangements were being made for a visit early next month, and members of the Board were asked to billet for ono night an yof these young fellows. The proposal was for a social oil the Saturday night, church on Sunday morning, and a look round on Sunday afternoon.

Tho educational committee, through the chairman (Mr G. I. McGregor), reported that tho committee had further dealt with the institution of the public shaking class under the tutorship of Mr L. F. do Berry, M.A. Tho classes were inaugurated on May 8, and at tho second lecture on Friday of last week tho attendance was 15. Members were showing keen enthusiasm, and, under the able leadership of Mr tie Berry, the success of the class was assured.

In reporting tm behalf of tho boys’ work committee, Mr 11. J. Harris stated that it had been, decided to go ahead with the formation of clubs in tho various groups of the boys’ division. In connection with the mother and son banquet, a draft programme was presented and adopted in full. When canvassing the boys’ division for this event, the committee decided that tho best method to adopt would bo to divide the membership amongst tho leadors and others willing to assist, so that it would be within the power of all persons on the work to pay a personal visit to each boy. The employed boys’ group met on Tuesdays, and clubs would be formed, if the attendance warranted. It was pleasing to note that several new members had been added to the boys’ rolls. The general secretary, reporting on behalf of the religious committee, stated that the mothers’ day meeting on May 10 was very successful, the attendance being 50. Mr R. H. Billens had delivered a most appropriate address, and tho Tui orchestra had considerably helped by leading the singing. Mr J. H. Dick, chairman of the physical committee, reported that nil classes in tho physical department wero now active, and, although as yet they were below strength, they wero steadily increasing. Tho Saturday morning and Friday afternoon classes had now met for three class sessions with very satisfactory attendances. Very gratifying wero the attendances at tho business men’s class, which this year had every prospect of a record enrolment. The following wore the attendances at classes since opening: Business men, 184; seniors, 488; employed boys, 100; primary boys, 55; ladies, 334; girls, Friday, 77; boys (under 12), 119; girls (under 12), 88;, total, 1515. All accounts in connection with the Ruapehu Easter trip had been squared up, and the cost per member was cheaper than ever before. It was tho intention of the tramping club commit/toe to organise a re-union dinner, inviting all tlioso members wvo had participated in tho tramps tq National Park. Mr H, Ferrier, on behalf of tho membership committee, reported that arrangements were under way for the losing teams in tho recent campaign to entertain the winners. Visits had been paid to the Boys’ High School, College Street and Terraco End schools, and invitations extended to tho boys to join tho association. Central School would also bo visited. The use of tho membership promotion material for tho A.M.S. to increase tho membership of the business men’s class was having a good result, and by tho time the effort was completed it seemed certain the budgeted quota for thri class would be obtained. Tho committee, which had been meeting weekly in the earlier weeks of the season, was now to meet monthly on the scond Thursday. Tho following members wero elected: Messrs R. W. Hope, S. H. Baddeley, A. Iledberg, J. P._ Steans, H. L. Cunninghame, A. J. Tate' J. X. Meroer, B. H. Torstonscn, R. W. Doolan, C. W. P. White, W. D. Stewart, C. L. Mills, R. O. Haddon, T. Dahl, C. H. Ellery, E.
