LABOUR CONFERENCE.

PRESIDENT VOICES' HIS IDEAL.

Received May 21, 10.30 a.m. GENEVA, May 19. One hundred and thirty nine delegates, representing 42 countries, all attending the International Labour conference. Dr. .Edward Benes (Cze-cho-Slovakia) was elected president. He said that Labour organisations were preparing for moral disarmament, which was essential for world peace. He advocated as an ideal, world-wide workers’ compensation, enabling maintenance iri the event of accident, incapacity, unemployment, maternity or old age, but recognised that the large expenditure involved demanded an immediate and more modest programme. —Sydney Sun cable.
