RECOVERY OF BODIES'.

The bodies of seventeen victims of the Scotswood mine disaster have been recovered. The men apparently met their death swiftly from the rising water. , It is expected the remainder of the bodies will be recovered this week.—A. and N.Z. cable.

Owing to an inflow of water due to its holing through, nearly 300 miners were trapped in the Montagu pit at Scotswood, near Newcastle. All but thirty-three escaped.
