DAIRY FARMERS' UNION.

ANNUAL MEETING AT RANGIOTU. TRIBUTES TO MR SMALL. There was an extraordinarily largo attendance at the annual meeting of the Dairy Fanners’ Union at Kangiotu last night, when several mutters of importance were discussed. The branch president (Mr W. H. Gimblott, of Kauwhata) presided, and expressed his great pleasure at the interest taken in the affairs of the organisation, as evidenced by the proportions of the meeting. The annual meeting proper was not commenced until a very late hour after several matters of general importance to the farmers of the district had been disposed of. Referring to the general work of the union during the past year Mr Gimhlett stated that it was a matter for regret that they had lost from their ranks officers such as Mr P. J. Small, who had been an active and valued member. The speaker did not know why Mr Small had resigned from the Dominion and provincial presidencies of the union, but ho had done splendid work. Mr (). W. Williams, too, had retired to accept the editorship of a farmers’ journal. Mr Gimblett proceeded to state that the union had tried to further that cause of the dairy fanner against strong opposition. The Dairy Farmers’ Union believed in the Dairy Control, but the work of organising the union against the strenuous opposition was a stern task. ELECTION OF OFFICERS.

The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr W. H. Gimblett; lion, secretary. Mr F. J. Legg; committee, Messrs F. Wallace, _C. Alve, H. Alve, F. Robin, H. H. Simmons, L. T. Rglington, and J. Ferguson.
