STOCK FROM MENTAL HOSPITAL.

WILL NOT BE EXHIBITED AT ROYAL SHOW. Per "Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, May 20. During a' discussion at to-day’s meeting of the general committee of the Canterbury M ,and V. Association a surprise was sprung on members by the announcement that the Sunnysido Mental Hospital authorities would not exhibit stock at the forthceming Royal Show. Mr J. I’arlane said that at the request of the Pig Committee he had interviewed tho superintendent of tho Sunnyside Menial Hospital with regard to entries of stock for the Royal Show, and had been informed by him that there was to be no more showing of stock : rom uny of the mental hospitals on accoun, of some irregularities at Porirua. Mr J. D. Hall said tho withdrawal of the department’s exhibits was a very serious affair, especially as on the occasion of a Royal Show the public would be deprived of witnessing what was being done in the matter of stock-raising at mental hospitals. He moved that tho Minister of Health be written to on the subject. This was agreed to.

Stocks are still firmly held. A’s on trucks are quoted at 3s 9d, and B’s at 3s 4d. Perennial ryegrass has moved slightly during the past few days. White -lover is being inquired for from tho Norih Island. Good undressed is worth up to Is 4d per !b on trucks, and inferior Is. Blenheim machine-dressed red clover is worth Is per lb.
