FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.

l'he fortnightly meeting of Court Manawatu, A.0.F., No. 565 b, was leld in the Foresters’ Hall, Main Street, on Mon* day night, when P.C.R. Bro. Levy presided over a large attendance. of members, including a number of visiting brethren. The Court room was draped in mourning us a mark of respect to departed members, namely, Bros A. Hoskings and A. C. hewers, tvho died recently and a vote of sympathy was passed to the relatives of the departed brethren. A vote of sympathy was passed, and a letter of condolence it’ to be sent to Mm Massey on the death of her husband, the Bight Hon. W. F. Massey, who was a keen supporter of friendly societies in general. One candidate was initiated into the Court and Order, and one proposed for membership. A reunion, consisting of members’ wives and iriends, is to be held next Court night, Jun? 1, at the conclusion of the meeting. The Court will resume business at seven o click on Monday night, June 1.

OROUA LODGE. K The half-yearly meeting of Oroua Lodge of Druids was held last night, A.E. Bro. C. Archer presiding over an attendance of over 90 members. Visitors from Makino and Lind lodges were present, besidei D.P. Bro. A. Cooksley and G.G. Bro. F. Jackson. P.D.P. Bro. F. Jackson's resignation as Grand Lodge delegate was received and P.S. Bro. J. Mewett was noniina ed to iill the vacanoy. Three candidates were proposed for membership and three, new members initiated into the order. In the elootion of D.P., P.A. Bro. J.
