POLO IN AUSTRALIA.

WIN roll NEW ZEALANDERS. SYDNEY, May 19. The New South Wales polo team which defeated New Zealand on Saturday. was the “red,” not the “white** team. To-day New' Zealand, in the defeated teams’ contest, met New South Wales “whites,” which yesterday suffered defeat by the Victorians. The weather was wretched, with frequent heavy showers, which made the ground exceedingly sloppy. The New Zealanders took the field minus Nelson, who is still on the injured list. Their*,combination showed considerable improvement on Saturday’s display. W. MacKenzie repeatedly thrilled the spectators with his daring and successful dashes through the field. C. Mac-, Kenzie ably seconded him, and Lyons and Campbell, were always enterprising and aggressive, though the defence of their opponents was much weaker than on Saturday. At the fourth cliukka, the scores were two all, Campbell and Lyons being the scorers for New Zealand. During blinding rain in the fifth chukka Lyons put the visitors ahead and from then on they easily held the lead, C. MacKenzie adding two goals, making the final score: New Zealand o, New South Wales 2. The New Zealanders will play in the final of the beaten teams’ match on Saturday.—Press Association.
