GOLF IN ENGLAND
BOOKMAKERS NOT TOLERATED. LONDON, May 14. Bookmakers have made several attempts of late to invade golf, links during tournaments. To-day, two witli hugs took up a position at the first tee at llollingwcll, Nottingham, where 100 of the best professionals were competing for the Daily Mail £I2OO prizes. When tlioy offered odds, they were told by the Nottingham Club tliey would riot ho tolerated. ’Hie bookmakers thereupon removed their hugs, but remained, as spectators. Charles Johns won with un aggregate of 293 for four rounds; Mitchell und Ray took 295 each, und Duncan 300.—A. und N.Z. cable.
